EEI and its founder, Seymour Epstein, have a long history of bringing visionary ideas to life, while funding and accelerating the growth of established enterprises.

 

Our portfolio has a broad focus, including public and private investments, fund partnerships, residential and commercial real estate, subsurface data management services, and start-ups in technology, media, and communications. While we are active primarily in Canada, our broader reach spans the globe.   

 

Our level of involvement ranges from pure financial investments, including investing in externally-managed investment funds, to active engagement with certain projects to which we can add the value of significant insight and wisdom.

Oded Levi

​

Oded is EEI's President.  A tenacious problem-solver and insightful leader, he has played executive management and CFO roles at a number of EEI's operating subsidiaries and works closely with leaders of those enterprises into which we've invested, bringing his entrepreneurial, finance and tax-related problem-solving skills to bear when needed.  Oded is a CPA, CA, and earned a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He has served on the boards of private, public, and not for profit organizations.

Kavi Vigneswaran

​

Kavi is our Director, Tax and Treasury. He is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University with a specialization in Accounting. Currently, his role involves overseeing the accounting and tax functions for EEI’s subsidiaries and assist leadership with managing EEI’s portfolio.  Previously, he worked in the Private Tax group for a Big Four accounting firm providing tax, accounting, and consulting services to owner-managed businesses and high net worth individuals.

Lauren Epstein

​

Lauren is a Senior Advisor to EEI and works particularly closely with the direct investing portfolio. For most of the past decade, Lauren has been investing in Canadian companies from angel to Series E, but her passion is for ground-breaking Seed Stage ventures. With both a law degree and an MBA, Lauren is a former litigation lawyer and political staffer. She is an ardent innovation advocate, and her mentorship and community involvement has made her highly respected and connected within the Canadian tech ecosystem. 

 

Seymour Epstein

 

Seymour, our founder, is a Professional Engineer, broadcast consultant, entrepreneur, and investor. He has served as a Bencher on the Law Society of Ontario and held numerous roles on community organizations.  A successful serial entrepreneur of many decades, he played a key role in the success of Global Television during its early years.  An innovator and 'outside the box' thinker at heart, Seymour is invigorated by today's rapidly changing technology and media ecosystems and is always eager to explore the opportunities they offer.
